Marshland Fishery was bought from Wm Blyth Tile Works in 1993. It had previously been fished by a local club. It was well known as the premier match and pleasure lake in North Lincolnshire. If you were lucky enough to get membership or get a day as a guest, these opportunities were extremely hard to come by .
The idea was to create a fishery that all anglers could fish on a day ticket as the lake was large enough ( 70 ) pegs. This proved very popular with anglers from all over the country.
Having a large reeded area at the southern end of the lake, it makes for a special area for fish to breed and find natural shelter away from anglers and predators. In the spring large numbers of Tench and Bream move into this shallow area to spawn and some of the very best of early morning and evening fishing can be had. Late June and these shallows fill to capacity with very large carp. Special tackle is required as these specimens tend to feed very close to the reeded margins.
